PowerDVD XP for VAIO. For complete PowerDVD XP for VAIO

I. [Attention!]
- This PowerDVD XP for VAIO version does not support Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker functionality.
- PowerDVD XP for VAIO supports S/PDIF out with system w/ S/PDIF port.
- If hardware acceleration is enabled, some noise may occur during DVD-Video Playbacks.
In order to avoid the noise, you may follow the steps bellow to disable the hardware acceleration.
- [Step 1] Start PowerDVD XP for VAIO
- [Step 2] Click on Configuration
- [Step 3] When the dialog box appears, click on the Video tab
- [Step 4] Uncheck hardware acceleration
- [Step 5] Click OK when you are finished
- If you feel the volume level is too low when using headphones, please follow the steps below:
- Launch PowerDVD if it is not running already.
- Click Configuration. Select the Audio tab.
- Click Advanced...
- Select the Miscellaneous tab.
- Select the Noisy Environment setting under the Dynamic Range Compression heading.
- Click OK.
- Click OK to close Configuration.
II. PowerDVD for VAIO Features List
- TV Out mode supported with the Sony MPEG2 Encoder Board.
- -VR on DVD-R/RW and +VR on DVD+R/RW playback support.
- Minimized Skin (Control Panel) Technology: You can toggle
between the maximized and minimized skins.
- Advanced Color Control: The ability to create, define and
save video profiles of your own!
- Bilingual Caption support.
- Closed Captioning support.
- LFE (Low Frequency Effect) support.
- IFO Mode Support: Playback DVD Files on a HDD.
- Enhanced Toolbar Navigator: you can have your own customized
toolbar.
- Mouse Scrolling Setting: Customized mouse scroller function
supported.
- Time Seek with duration from 1-600 seconds by using 'Page Up'
and 'Page Down'.
- DVD Auto-Resume playback: If a movie playback is interrupted,
the next time you will have the freedom to view from the beginning
of the movie or resume from the point of interruption.
III. Differences between PowerDVD XP 4.0 and retail version of
PowerDVD XP for VAIO:
Only PowerDVD XP 4.0 has the following features:
- File Mode Support (AVI, MPEG1/2, MP3, WMV and others)
- Snapshot Function
- Bookmark Function
- Skin selection Function
- Internet Portal Site
- SVCD support
- A3D/Directsound3D
- Dolby Headphone
- Dolby Virtual Speaker
- Dolby Pro Logic II
- TruSurround XT
- DTS Decoding
- Region code modification is allowed
*PowerDVD XP 4.0 does not support TV Out mode.
IV. Limitations of ''PowerDVD XP for VAIO''
- Sometimes Video CD (VCD), -VR, +VR and DVD (PAL) might not be played back correctly under [TV Out] mode. In case you encounter such a problem, please use the [PC] mode for playback.
- Default skin (Control Panel) may not be changed from the default setting.
- DTS is not supported.
- File mode is not supported.
- Overwriting (installation) of PowerDVD XP for VAIO with a retail version of
PowerDVD XP will overwrite all previous settings and disallow
users to use [TV Out] mode. Also, skin data will be overwritten with
the generic skin and thus disable various skin functions.
- Starting PowerDVD XP for VAIO during [Giga Pocket] operation or starting
[Giga Pocket] during operation of [PowerDVD XP for VAIO] is not allowed.
- By utilizing 4:3 (Normal TV) to play 16:9 DVD-Video discs in the Letterbox
mode might decrease video quality.
- Letterbox: uses black bars on the top/bottom of the screen and displays the original 16:9 source with the correct ratio under a 4:3 ratio TV.
- During PowerDVD XP for VAIO operation, using Windows Media Player will sometimes cause frame dropping.
- The region code setting for the following countries/regions are:
- North America (U.S.A./Canada): ''Region 1''
- United Kingdom: ''Region 2''
- Mexico: ''Region 4''
- Audio CD playback is not supported.
- MP3 playback is not supported.
- Drives other than DVD-RW drives may not able to read DVD-RW media titles.
- Drives other than DVD+RW drives may not able to read DVD+RW media titles.
- Some users under Windows XP may not be able to play -VR on DVD-R/RW discs if they do not have administrator privileges.
- Color Control adjustments may not be modified when PowerDVD is in Stop mode.
They are only available for modification during playback.
- Cannot play back the -VR/+VR disk because it was not closed after burning.
